While ATP’s finance, HR, and research administration teams have been configuring Workday to streamline business processes, the Data and Reporting Team has been determining how Universities of Wisconsin staff can best use Workday’s reporting capabilities after go-live.
The UW universities have a lot of data, but it’s not always connected in ways that support daily operations. That’s going to change for the better with Workday.
The Data and Reporting Team is taking a “Workday-first” approach. If reports are available in Workday, that’s where staff will access them; they won’t have to go to different systems like they do today. Workday’s reports are seamless and robust — and convenient.
“Our goal is to give more staff easier access to more data for more purposes,” said Kurt McMillen, ATP Data & Reporting Strategy Lead.
Workday also provides several reporting tools, such as discovery boards and worksheets that allow for more ways to compare and report on data.
In addition to Workday, employees across the Universities of Wisconsin will also have access to the Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP) data lake, which is a structure that will store past data and allow us to use it in future reporting. The EAP will store legacy (or pre-Workday) data and provide capabilities to combine legacy data (from Human Resource System or Shared Financial System) with Workday data for longitudinal reporting needs.
